Novuna Vehicle Solutions and LondonEnergy extends partnership

Novuna Vehicle Solutions has extended its partnership with LondonEnergy to support the latter’s fleet overhaul plan, which aims to reduce downtime and ensure seamless waste collection operations.

The collaboration between LondonEnergy and Novuna Vehicle Solutions has been ongoing for seven years, during which Novuna has helped build, fund, and manage LondonEnergy’s fleet of 35 vehicles, which service seven sites across London.

As part of the ongoing fleet replacement initiative, LondonEnergy has taken delivery of 12 Volvo FM 500 6×2 tag axle tractor units with sleeper cabs. This marks the first phase of the plan.

Novuna Vehicle Solutions collaborated with Volvo to design and build the new units to meet safety and performance standards.

The Direct Vision Standard-compliant vehicles feature a lower passenger door window to enhance visibility around the cab, improving safety on London’s roads.

The trucks’ design, created by design agency Effusion, features visuals illustrating the journey of waste transformation.

Novuna Vehicle Solutions managing director Jon Lawes said: “After 18 months of planning and collaboration, the handover of the Volvo tractor units represents a key milestone for LondonEnergy as they transform their fleet operation. We have worked closely together to develop a tailored solution that addresses their specific fleet challenges, focusing on efficiency and reliability.

“By partnering with trusted localised suppliers within our approved service network, we are also helping LondonEnergy minimise downtime, ensuring the vehicles stay on the road and continue delivering essential waste management services across London.”

LondonEnergy managing director Jim Kendall said: “Novuna Vehicle Solutions has been a key partner throughout our fleet replacement programme. Their in-depth analysis of our operations ensured that the new tractor units are perfectly suited to our fleet’s needs, improving efficiency and performance.”

In June 2024, it was reported that Novuna Vehicle Solutions and MHC Mobility, part of Mitsubishi HC Capital UK, expanded their combined fleet by 8% to 155,000 vehicles.

This growth contributed to the group’s pre-tax profit of £126m.

With a fleet valued at £1.9bn, marking an 11% year-on-year increase, the company continues to invest in decarbonisation solutions.
